Veteran’s Tax Credit
Article P-24

Shall the Town adopt the provisions of RSA 72:28, II for an increase of $100 in the optional veteran’s tax credit and an expanded qualifying war service for veteran’s seeking the tax credit and replace the standard tax credit in its entirety? This modification would make the optional veteran’s tax credit $200 rather than $100. (by Petition)

Elderly Exemption
Article P-25

Pursuant to RSA 72:39-b shall we modify the elderly exemptions from property tax in the Town of Plaistow, based on assessed value, for qualified taxpayers, to be as follows: for a person 65 years of age and up to 75 years of age, $110,000; for a person 75 years of age up to 80 years, $150,000; for a person 80 years of age or older, $190,000. To qualify, the person must have been a New Hampshire resident for at least 5 years, own the real estate individually or jointly, or if the real estate is owned by such a person’s spouse, they must have been married for at least 5 years. In addition, the taxpayer must have a net income of not more than $35,000 or if married, a combined net income of less than $50,000; and own net assets not in excess of $80,000 excluding the value of the person’s residence. (Recommended by the Board of Selectmen)

Single Income Limit: $35,000    Married Income Limit: $50,000

Asset Limitations: $80,000       Exemption if 65-74: $110,000

Exemption if 75-79: $150,000   Exemption if 80 + :  $190,000

Article P-26
Disabled Exemption

Pursuant to RSA 72:37-b shall we modify the exemption for the disabled? The exemption, based on assessed value, for qualified taxpayers shall be $150,000. To qualify, the person must have been a New Hampshire resident for at least 5 years and own and occupy the real estate individually or jointly, or if the real estate is owned by a spouse, they must have been married for at least 5 years. In addition, the taxpayer must have a net income of not more than $35,000 or if married, a combined net income of not more than $50,000; and own net assets not in excess of $80,000 excluding the value of the person’s residence. (Recommended by the Board of Selectmen)

Single Income Limit: $35,000            Married Income Limit: $50,000

Asset Limitations: $80,000                Disabled Exemption: $150,000
