Is There Any State or Local Pandemic Planning Taking Place? |

Public health protection is both a state and local responsibility. In the event of a pandemic, the world, the federal government, the United States, New Hampshire, and every town and city in the state will be involved in handling the outbreak. It is critical that all of these partners are working on preparedness and response efforts for the protection of public health.

At the local level, The Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) and the Department of Safety (DOS) are strongly encouraging a regional approach for planning.
Plaistow is participating in regional pandemic planning with eight other towns; Atkinson, Danville, Derry, Hampstead, Londonderry, Salem, Sandown and Windham, the Southeastern NH Public Health Emergencies Planning Team. Representatives from each of these towns meet monthly as a Regional Coordinating Committee to coordinate our planning activities. In the event of a pandemic, the entire state and/or country will likely be affected, so outside resources will be limited. By working together as a region, we can pool our resources and government funding for pandemic preparedness, to develop a comprehensive regional pandemic response plan. It is important as a region to coordinate efforts and resources to provide essential public health services during a public health emergency.
