As we enter 2008, the Department has budgeted, by warrant articles, for two (2) additional full-time officers and await the March Town Meeting vote. These budgeted positions come on the heels of a 2007 Personnel Acquisition Plan (see other links for the entire study) that found the Department understaffed by at least four (4) officers. At the same time, planning and budgeting is well underway for laptop computers in our patrol cars that will enable our Officers to spend more time on the street. We expect to apply to the State of New Hampshire this year for State accreditation which has taken years to reach this point.
Planning is still underway for either additions to the Safety Complex or construction of a stand-alone Police building to the rear of the current building. All options are still on the table.
As you can imagine, much of the aforementioned is occurring because commercial growth constantly impacts our police services to you, the resident and taxpayer.
