PART-TIME RECORDS CLERK

The Plaistow Police Department is currently seeking applicants for the position of Part-Time Records Clerk.  Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. (Associates Degree preferred), valid driver’s license, and U.S. Citizenship.  

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Police operations and the understanding of New Hampshire Criminal Laws and Court System.  Qualified candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to effectively manage time, solve problems, exercise good judgment, and multi-task in a fast paced environment.  Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, strong clerical skills, including data entry, filing, and records management is essential.  Must be able to readily acquire knowledge of procedures and the ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.   

Required to successfully complete an interview process, drug screening, and extensive background investigation, to include a criminal records check.

The position is 28 hours per week with a starting hourly rate of $15.15.

FULL-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE CAPTAIN

The Plaistow Police Department is currently seeking a full-time Administrative Captain.  Plaistow is a busy community located on the border of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The Police Department has $1.9 million dollar budget which funds 18 full-time Police Officers, 2 part-time Police Officers, a 24/7 Dispatch Center staffed by 5 full-time Dispatchers and 1 part-time Dispatcher, 1 Animal Control Officer, 2 Crossing Guards, 2 full-time Administrative Assistants, 1 part-time Records Clerk, 1 full-time Victim/Witness Advocate, and 1 Prosecuting Attorney (Contractual).

The successful candidate must be willing to proactively engage with the community, have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and must demonstrate fair and consistent leadership. Management experience in a union setting is preferred but not mandatory.  The job description for this position is available for review upon request.     

Resume review will take place in February of 2016 and successful candidates will be invited to participate in the hiring process.  A projected start date for this position will be in March/April of 2016.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police Science, Business or Public Administration or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of  demonstrated education and experience within the law enforcement field .
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible police experience including five years in a supervisory position (Master Patrol Officer or above).
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, certification as a full-time officer as required by the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training Council.
  • Valid Driver's License.
SALARY/FRINGE BENEFITS
  • Annual Salary range is: $70,000.00 to $75,000.00 annually.
  • Benefits under the Town of Plaistow’s Personnel Policy including but not limited to health, dental, life insurance, holidays, vacation time, sick time, personal time, and short & long term disability.
  • Ability to take private police details.
Required to complete a Professional Review Board, written response essay questions, background investigation, and any other testing procedures mandated by the Town of Plaistow.
