Part-Time Dispatcher

An exciting opportunity awaits at the Plaistow Police Department’s Communication Center.  We are presently prepared to hire a part-time Public Safety Dispatcher.  These frontline positions require individuals with maturity and the ability to “keep their cool” under pressure while providing a valuable service to the public as they seek professional assistance for police, fire, and medical emergencies.  Applicants must have strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, at times high stress environment, and the ability to work under a strict confidential environment.  Excellent writing and keyboarding skills are essential.  This unique applicant must have the availability to work any shift, including some holidays and weekends, sometimes within a 24 hour period.   

Applicants for this position must be at least 21 years old, possess a High School Degree or equivalent (Associates Degree preferred), have a valid driver’s license, transportation, and are a U.S. Citizen.  Bi-lingual is a plus.  

Applicants are required to complete a dispatcher skill test, oral board, medical exam, drug screening, psychological and polygraph exams and extensive background investigation, including a criminal records check.  

Starting hourly rate as of 4/1/2014 is $14.26

Candidates for the position of Police Officer who are seeking full-time Officer employment and are not full-time sworn Police Officers are directed to the Police Testing Alliance at Great Bay Community College.  The first step for these unsworn candidates is to take the police exam at Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth, NH.
