Important Customer Advisory from UNITIL

CUSTOMER ADVISORY: UNITIL DOES NOT ENDORSE SPECIFIC SUPPLIERS

------------------------------------------------------------------

Call center has received multiple reports of third party suppliers saying they work on behalf of Unitil in NH

HAMPTON, NH, October 18, 2016 – Unitil, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, is advising customers to be suspicious of third party supply entities claiming a relationship with Unitil.

Over the last week, Unitil’s customer service department has received multiple calls reporting individuals going door-to-door and indicating they are working with or on behalf of Unitil. According to these reports, these individuals offer the customer a supply contract from a third party.

Regulations in New Hampshire allow customers to sign independent contracts with a third party for the supply portion of their electric bill. Such contracts do not have a business impact on Unitil, as it is a distribution utility. While Unitil has long encouraged customers to explore options when it comes to third party suppliers, it does not endorse any one supplier over another.

“These reports have us concerned that there’s a business out there misrepresenting its relationship with Unitil, and we feel it is important to make sure customers are aware,” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said. “Unitil representatives would not endorse a specific contract from a third party supplier; if a person comes to your door to try and get you to sign a contract with a specific supplier, that person does not work for Unitil.”
