FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER

The Town of Plaistow, NH is seeking applicants for an immediate opening for two full-time Police Officers.  Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a high school diploma/GED or equivalent experience in the law enforcement field; college degree preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license, U.S. citizenship, and excellent communication and writing skills. The Department is seeking an individual with ability to maintain professionalism while providing quality community safety services assuring equal treatment for all. Must be able to meet current requirements set forth by the NH Police Standards and Training Council, which can be viewed at http://www.pstc.nh.gov/faqs.htm#coopers.  

Certified Officers encouraged to apply. Candidates will be required to complete a physical agility test, professional interview, polygraph, medical and psychological examinations, and must pass an extensive background investigation.

Starting hourly rate is based on a step progression from $25.07 -$34.64.

PLAISTOW POLICE DEPARTMENT

FULL-TIME DISPATCHER

The Plaistow Police Department is seeking applicants for a full-time Public Safety Dispatcher.  This frontline position provides a valuable service to the public as the first contact for those in need of police, fire, or emergency medical services.

This position requires someone with strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.  Excellent verbal, written, and data entry skills are essential. Candidates must have the ability to maintain professional working relationships with other agencies and the ability to focus on the expectations required of the position. Candidates must have the ability to work weekends, days, evenings, midnights, and some holiday shifts.     

Applicants for this position must be at least 21 years old, have no criminal record, possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree preferred), possess a valid driver’s license, and must be a U.S. citizen.  Previous experience in dispatching preferred.

Applicants are required to complete a professional interview and medical exam including a drug screen, as well as an extensive background investigation including a criminal records check.

Benefits are provided under the Plaistow Police Collective Bargaining Agreement with Teamsters Local 633.  Benefits include, but are not limited to, health, dental, life insurance, earned time off, holiday pay, short/long term disability, and participation in the New Hampshire Retirement System.

Hourly salary (steps 1 – 6):   $ 21.84 - $ 25.94
